have two savages. One using Suzuki brand motor oil. The other using the site recommended oil plus the valve additive. The one with the additive has been having clutch plate sticking which has been very hard to get them broke free. Is this a commen issue or am I just lucky? Any ideas? Thanx

Victor,

I usually put the S40 in gear, and holding the clutch in rock the bike back and forth. I then drift down my driveway in gear and pull the clutch in and out a few times until I am certain the clutch plates are free. I then put the bike in neutral and start the engine.

Clutch issues are generally adjustment.
Not only cable, but rods as well.
check the clutch arm on the back side of the case, there are 2 marks.
grab that lever and pull up on it to take out the slack but not disengage the clutch.
The higher it is to the top mark, the less travel the rod has, which might not be enough to fully disengage the clutch.
With the cover off, the rod will stick out of the clutch pack by 12 to 12.5mm

Also, although I like a lot of freeplay on the clutch cable, too much and you won't be able to pull in the clutch. Try to have at least an 1/8" and check the full travel of the bars for any binding.
