Hello and welcome!

I thought some of you fenderless fans might appreciate this.

Once the front fender and dust covers are removed this little doo dad bolts right on. All dimensions are there, the only thing I suggest is taking an accurate measurement of your own bike to get it just right so you're not putting any unnecessary stress on your tubes. This clamps down on the landing where the dust cover would normally sit.

I did this all with a drill press, drill bits, thread tap, countersink, 2-1/4 hole saw, coping saw, file, and a dremel.

You can pick up a 12" long chunk of 4" X 1/2" flat bar from a local fabrication shop or a metal depot. I went with aluminum for weight factor and tapped the back half for a cleaner look with a countersunk fastener but you could also just bolt thru and put a nut on the back if you want.

I'm giving this drawing to the savage community in hopes that you guys can build, use, improve and contribute on this design.

While I'm not down with the fenderless approach, I always appreciate good engineering and straightforward problem solving. That looks like a good idea and, not being an engineer, I couldn't say it's stiff enough to be as good as the other available options, but I can't say it isn't.. Only way I'd know is a test ride.. I'd lean toward
It'll do the job..

JOG- as far as lateral and torsional flex is concerned, it nails the job to the wall. 1/2" looks to be the industry standard for the thickness of the collars on these devices and with a bike so light I'm not worried in the least. If one was concerned about about individual compression of the tubes the thickness of the flat bar can be increased to 5/8" or 3/4" to counteract this action further.

Batman- it ain't custom if you can pick it out of a magazine or buy it off the interweb. I don't feel the need to exploit the LS owners, there are braces that can be bought and shipped already. I'd much rather put out information and have a collaboration of ideas so readers can reference it and make their own. 8-)

Providing a needed product or service at a price agreed to by both parties is simply called trade. You buy raw materials, invest time, labor, and skill and trade your product for something of value. Usually money. Some people may Want exactly that product and, in spite of the drawings and instructions, just not have the time, place, tools or skill. That's not taking advantage of anyone.

JOG- fair enough, this thread is aimed at people that are looking to make their own braces. But, If there is enough interest I can look into the costs of doing a small run (10-20) of blanks at a CNC water cutting shop.

Kris- You might clear the fender by cutting out the middle section and bolting an additional piece on top of the two collars like a "crossroads" fork brace. What is the relation between the dust cover landing is the top of the fender?

Great Job. !!!

When I make a device, for loading semi-auto magazines,
or a, ‘mooner/demooner’, for, moon clips.
In most cases, the same thing can be bought.
(And for less, that the time/mat, I spent making it)
But, I have the satisfaction, of doing it myself.

I have that equipment with me at all times. Rarely utilized, and never within the last forty years have I used them for the purposes of
Mooning and Demooning.

I finally bought a belt with a complicated enough buckle to give me enough time to engage the Impulse Control.
If only such a device could be inconspicuously installed on my dadgummed Mouth! I can say something WAY quicker than I can evaluate the consequences of what saying it will most likely be.
