I would like to install some type of throttle position keeper. Preferably something other than the universal fit type with the rod that spans between the handlebar & grip. I did not have good luck with a rubber o-ring. Thank you!

Never used a throttle lock but have tried this paddle looking thing that slips over the twist grip, then you just rest your palm on the paddle instead of having to hang onto the grip. Works well. About a dollar on eBay. Can't remember what it's called, sorry.

Flip-a-lever
I bought one of these a few eons ago when Bill Schneider was making them.. then he stopped.
Saw this thread and decided to look again. Lo and behold, they are available again.

I have one on Thumper.. been working well for many many miles. Thinking about buying one for Mad Hamish and getting rid of the ugly Vista Cruise (which doesn't work as well IMO)

I went with the Nep cruise control, I had one on a bike like 30 some years ago. Inexpensive, (cheap) effective, and easy to over-ride.

Agreed, but locking a throttle open on a bike? Sounds very dangerous to me.

These devices have been around for a very long time - I installed them on motorcycles when I work in a shop back in the early 70's.

If you ride a lot of highway where traffic is light and you hold the throttle in the same place for extended periods - they can be useful. All of them can be overcome in an emergency.....you just grab the throttle and twist - the device is not "locked" - it is just a friction device that is set to be a bit stronger than the pull of the throttle spring.

I don't ride a lot of highway, and I move the throttle around a lot. I use a Crampbuster, and it does help to keep your throttle hand from getting tired. They just clip on/off, and it takes seconds to put it on or take it off if the road conditions change.....or you can just rotate it out of the way.
