Robbing peter to pay paul?

Looks pretty though.

and if you haven't put a seal between the cam and the plug, then you're just feeding more oil to the chain.

Not mine. Some thumper in China. But, if nothing else he's got a touch of vintage bling going on there!!!

So this is a bad idea?

It is probably a bad idea....as the oil you are redirecting to the cam is being taken away from the crankshaft bearings, and the oil flow coming out of the rod bearing is what oils the piston, cylinder, and upper rod bearing.

And as Verslagen suggested, if they haven't made some kind of a sealed connection to the end of the rotation crankshaft, the oil won't help lube the cam and it will just drop down the space between the up/down sides of the cam chain.

On the SR500 we do something similar but it already had a external oil line to feed the rocker box and the first upgrades was to feed it directly to exhaust rocker shaft and later upgrade feeds both intake & exhaust rocker shafts for better cooling and lubrication. Almost all the old British thumpers used a external oil line to the rocker box. Curious to see what they did on the inside of that engine , they had to do something otherwise it would loose oil pressure just dumping oil on the cam chain !

But it looks cool!  ;D

I have to admit it does look cool , gives it a vintage look. Would like to see a pic of the whole bike!

The bike is otherwise fairly unremarkable. Perhaps with the exception of the rear disc brake. I suppose I should post a pic of that over on the thread where T&T are attempting one. FWIW, the absence of a compression release would suggest this is an LS400.

I think it looks cool. I would be tempted to duplicate it as simply a non-working decorative item.

Why would the LS400 not have a comp release?

The Suzuki engineers must have calculated the starter to be up to the task. They left the mounting boss undrilled and untapped. Saved a few bucks I suppose.

So, that would be conveinent place to install an oil pressure gauge then?  Now that would be cool!

Buster, A guage mounted there will show you pressure near the oil pump, which maybe 50+ lbs at higher rpm, but we really need to know the pressure at the cam, at idle so it won't be very useful .
