Mine have been fighting, and both are showing wear.

What do you do about it?

Verslagen,

Since I rounded the end off on the rubber cover that makes the shifter wear a little less on my boot, but I still have to change laces at least once a year.

I have 2 pairs of boots I use when I ride.

1)  My "work" boots get used when I measure streets, do inspections, etc, and they get a lot of wear on the bottom....today was not a very busy day and my FItBit shows I have already walked 12,000 steps and 6 miles today.....some days in the summer I can double that.  The boots last about a year as "office" boots at that rate and I keep them polished....the shifter doesn't seem to make any permanent marks or wear.  The boots then get retired for use when doing yard work at home.

2)  My official "motorcycle" boots have a plastic reinforcement where the shifter is.....they never show any wear.

I have seen that they make soft covers to fit on Sport Bike Shifters.....what color would look good on your bike?

Same here. I don't like wearing laced shoes on a motorcycle. I caught a lace 35 years ago and couldn't get my foot down. Not only was it embarrassing, it was expensive for a poor college kid. Ever since I've been a buckle-up kind of guy with low over-ankle boots. All of these boots have a reinforced toe for shifting.

Stop by the boot repair shop and see about having a patch of something durable put on your boot.

Cut up old boot.  Stapled strap across "new" boot.

Long rides through citied kill a shoe. Boots kinda help.

Mine wear out on the toe from the shifter and through the sole from the kick starter (other bike). But buying new ones is easy.

Duct tape is like The Force. There's a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together!  ;D

So it's just a rubber sleeve over a peg.

And you thought grips were hard to get off.

Several screwdrivers, a little wd40 and a claw hammer.

The last couple of rings were worn off, so I took it off, turned it around and shoved it back on.
