I visited my local Suzuki dealer today and saw the 2017 S40.
It was not as extreme as I thought it would be. The black is a mixture of flat and glossy, quite nice. I still prefer the "chrome " finish but it is more in line with current trends. Still no S.S. spokes though. I don't like cadmium plating on spokes like we had on British bikes forever. Guaranteed to deteriorate. :'(

What restraint , you didn't buy it ?
We can get your butt in the seat with a small down payment and very low very easy payment plan , you can ride it home today , let me talk to my sales manager and see what we can do to get you riding this beauty home today!
Here's the part where you talk him into a new helmet & gloves so you can ride it home.
And hell no , I mean no thank you I'm not interested in the extended warranty !

As an owner of 2 '08 S40s, I'm going to my local, annual Motorcycle Show tomorrow specifically to see the new Rebel 500. If it's a hit as I suspect, Suzuki could easily update the S40 without spending a lot of money. They probably won't do it. Another idea: stick the 650 v-twin in a cruiser/standard frame.
The new Rebel gives Honda 4 models with the same engine. Suzuki could do 2! 8-)

So is it safe to assume that replacement crankcase covers for the 2017 model will come in black?
I wonder what astronomical price Suzuki asks for these parts?

Hey everybody, I just wanted to ask about the 2017...is there something different about the front end? The front fender looks different...maybe because it's black? Also, the front fork legs look longer. Did the S40 get changed at all, besides the blackout? Thanks, keep on thumping!

It also has oval mirrors. Wow! ;D
