I was wondering if anyone knew how the neck comes apart have forks out bars are off but can't get top of the triple trees off to get to locking nut does it slide off or am I missing something?

There is only 1 chrome acorn nut on top of the triple tree that holds it on......after that is removed the top tree should come off.  It might be corroded and stuck a bit - you might have to take a soft mallet and move it around to loosen it up.

Going to an online parts source and looking at the parts diagram can help you to understand how things are held together.

Yes that chrome acorn nut should be broken loose first before disassembly. I will loosen all the bolts before I take anything off .

Everything is lose have hit top of trees with rubber mallet just spins around the neck the acorn nut is off that's y I asked maybe I missed something

You might try removing the head light from the lower and striking upward with the rubber hammer.
