That is the ugliest incarnation of the S40 I've ever seen.

"adds a shot of advanced Suzuki technology" i wonder what advanced technology?  One of the things i loke about the s40 is its basically a tractor with 2 wheels, simple and durable.
I kinda like the look aside from the gas tank on that one, looks out of place.

8900 in Australian dollars is not as much as you would think, its only like $900usd more than the msrp for us buyers

Is it just me, or does every thing that wants to emit "bad boy" vibes think that it requires black out color schemes ????  :-?

So the $8990 is Australian dollars ?
What is the exchange rate ?

I actually like the blacked out coloring.

I'm neither excited or bothered by the black. I just hope it's better about not letting rust in on the rims and doesn't crack on the motor.

THE NEW TECH IS PROFIT! Suzuki found a way to make more money, black is much cheaper than chrome. I did see that it also comes with a black tank ,which is better than that punkin color they have in the first pic, god that's ugly!

6.5K USD. However they are easy to find on the Aussie market with less than 1000kms on the clock for 4.5K USD

First, profit isn't evil.
Second, the environmental impact of chroming is really pretty nasty.
If the black is more durable than what they have been doing I'm totally down with it. The spokes on these things just can't be kept nice without making a hobby out of polishing and That has to be from when they are new and there is no promises that will do it.

If I was manufacturing something and could change a process from an expensive and environmentally nasty step to one that costs less and isn't as nasty, I'd do it,
Save money, be environmentally responsible AND, hopefully, produce a finish that doesn't deteriorate so quickly. The chrome on these bikes leaves much to be desired. I hope the black finish is hard and doesn't fly off when it's time for a tire.
Just went to look again, turned the brightness up.. The spokes look to be unchanged... too bad.
I think the black tank and everything else black looks good.

Although I criticize the blacked-out look for a fashion victim trend there is a benefit to it. You can add the chrome in whatever proportion you feel like. With a few additions you can put some sparkle on the bike in a selective way to keep it from being garish looking.

And you can find much better quality chrome aftermarket than anything Suzuki can provide.
