Title: Handlebar change / cable issues?
Post by JDNewYork on 12/22/16 at 05:06:06

Hi all, I am wanting to change out my stock handlebar for a Biltwell Window (see pic). It has a 9" rise and I will be sitting it in the stock risers. Wanted to know if you guys think I should be prepared to have to change out the clutch cable and brake line when making this transition? I live in New York City so all of my maintenance is done road side so I like to be fully prepared before I start a job!

I did switch my handlebar and I didn't had to change anything and even had a slack of cable left for weir management ))
I think that its after 10"
give it a shut

Thanks Struch, thats what I was hoping...read a post from someone who was changing out for ape hangers with around a 10" rise and they said that seemed about the limit for the cables and another with 12" apes and they DID have to switch out the clutch cable. Gonna order the bars today for a New Years project...hoping I don't have a nasty surprise!!

It most likely depends on what handlebars you started with.  The bikes that had the Buckhorn bars had longer cables than the bikes that came from the Suzuki factory with the drag bars.

Sure. The bars should be delivered this week hopefully so I will post as soon as I have fitted

Happy to report the bars fit without any cabling issues....having said that, I think if the bars would have been even one inch higher rise I think I would be saying the opposite!!

So to who it may concern....Biltwell 1" Window Handlebars fit fine (if you have a Savage that came stock with bullhorn type bar), no issues with having to change out clutch or throttle cables etc.

I will post pictures in the next day or too, I really love the look. I have only seen people use these bars on bobbers in the past...my '99 is much closer to a stock machine but the bars give it a much more aggressive look and I really like the feel.
