Post by Jayhawka on 12/15/16 at 03:04:24

hey guys
I have a 2015 ls 650 which I took off the road when it was brand new and cusom built to what it is now ( see photo )
it currently has frisco bars on it but ive just ordered a set of 16 inch apes... does anyone know where I can get extended throttle, brake and clutch cables from?
I'm located in Australia but ordering from anywhere around the world doesn't phase me
cheers

You can order the parts (or kits) to make you own cables from Venhill.  It takes a little practice to learn to tin the end of the cable without getting it too hot - I found that heating the end of a flat steel bar and melting the solder on the bar - then dipping the flux coated cable end into the molten solder worked great.  You do need a flux that is good for steel.....don't use a plumbing flux.

I don't know if it is easier for you to order from the UK or USA.

Jayhawka,

Firstly, VERY nice job.

Secondly, when I changed to pullbacks from drag bars I made my own extended cables from universals in the manner described by Dave. It seems difficult but once you do one it is easy.

Thirdly, where are you? If you are near Sydney I'd be happy to show you how.

I made the throttle cable that's on it from a venhill kit, but I was just sussing if their was any pre made ones out there coz I've had enough of custom making nuts to fit [ch128514][ch128514] haha

Thanks heaps guys!

Ah I'm from Melbourne champ!

Please don't... it took me soooo long to come up with a custom paint design that no one else has and suits such a little bike haha ;D ;D
It's hard to get a photo of the pearl.. that's about the best I can get

I can get custom made cables from the US maker Barnett.
They cost a little but are well made.
You can get any length, for any carb, and an assortment of casings from 'black vinyl to stainless braid or black braid or ....

If you want some or the price, I need the exact lengths of each and the type of casing desired before being able to quote.  It can take a week or two to get them back after the order is made.  Payment is required at the time of the order.

As an example, a full set of throttle, clutch and brake line will run in the $200 range for black vinyl.

Beautiful work!  We have a very similar vision but I extended the front fork 6 inches and have no paint work even close.

thanks for the offer Lancer but I'm going to go down the venhill kit route and make them all myself, purely due to the time frame and the fact I'm impatient haha

nah one of my mates painted it in my garage... was the first bike he had ever painted and it actually landed him a job in a custom bike shop!
So all he does is paint custom bikes now and some off the stuff hes done is crazy!
