Title: installing a rev counter? Post by JLC on 12/04/16 at 19:12:12 The heading says it all... I would like to install a rev counter on my S40. Anybody on here has done this? |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by verslagen1 on 12/04/16 at 19:17:49 I rarely go in reverse. ;D |

Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by JLC on 12/04/16 at 19:52:08 Thanks, that is very useful. I would have found that thread if I used the right terminology (tachometer) when searching. |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by JLC on 12/04/16 at 20:33:54 Just ordered a Ryca mini tachometer. Thanks again. :) |

Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by JLC on 12/05/16 at 06:02:24 No, Colorado, USA. I did live in England for 18 years though, mostly in the Midlands. |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Dave on 12/05/16 at 06:28:20 Yep, it is important to keep track of the "tickover" RPM ;)! |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by JLC on 12/05/16 at 16:38:41 That's why I am installing the tachometer. I want to make sure the idle is always set at 1000 rpm+ |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by T140V on 01/05/17 at 05:33:39 I would like to thank you guys for helping me with my choice of which tach to buy. I bought the Ryca mini tachometer without the handlebar mount . Instead I made my own brackets . I used 1/4" x 1" aluminum flat bar and bent 90° angles using a vise and a ball peen hammer . I shaped and sculpted the metal using a belt sander and a rat tail file then polished the brackets using a buffing wheel on my grinder. I used red rouge and white rouge to finish the project. I will try to attach pic's . |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Papa Bear on 01/05/17 at 05:41:58 For my RPM I just count the "thumps" 1 Mississippi - 2 Mississippi - 3 Mississippi etc for 1 minute 8-) |

Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Todd James on 01/05/17 at 07:08:25 Very nice brackets, T140V. Your efforts paid off with a very professional result ! |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by T140V on 01/05/17 at 13:34:47 I started off with this flat bar. Sorry if this pic does'nt come through. I'm trying to do this from my iPad. I guess they are just to big to post. |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Joer0952 on 01/05/17 at 14:02:18 I personally like how this guy did it http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1409022095 |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Tocsik on 01/05/17 at 14:05:22 Where is that attached underneath? |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Kenny G on 01/05/17 at 14:40:22 Tocsik, I think you can see in the pictures that Todd James posted how it is fastened. He did a really good job. I wanted to use his mounting method, but I had already cut my risers down to 2" so I didn't have enough space to fit the tachometer with his mount. I used the Ryca mount, which is awful pricey. Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Flint on 01/05/17 at 16:41:28 There are only three things I can find fault with the S40... no Tach, speedo on the tank, and no trip meter. Very minor issues. |
Title: Re: installing a rev counter? Post by Kris01 on 01/05/17 at 18:57:02 T140V, can you post a pic of how you attached the bracket to the triple clamp? That is a beautiful work of art! You've got some real skills! |
