Title: No neutral light (fixed!)
Post by mconigliaro on 11/25/16 at 09:03:56

Hey guys, I'm just finishing up my Ryca CS-1 project, and everything works except my neutral light. I found another thread that said the blue wire from my neutral switch should be grounded when in neutral, but my multimeter shows no change when I cycle through the gears. I checked the wire for breaks, but everything looks good all the way from the bulb to where the wire goes into the motor. My last thought was to take off the clutch case and replace the neutral switch, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that a faulty neutral switch was really rare, so I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas before I go down that road.

Ground the wire where it goes into the motor and see if the light comes on

Yup, grounding that wire makes the light turn on.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I just put new oil in there! :'(

tilt to side, remove cover, no oil lost.

Check the wire closely. If it busted above where it exits the case you might avoid a hassle .

Get it in neutral and wiggle the wire.

My bike has had a few electrical problems that have really aggravated me. Like the time when I rode home almost 10mi with no front head light at night.
And another time when my brake light wasn't working.
Every time all it's ever been is a connector unplugged.

Now that it's warm again, I drained the oil and discovered that the blue wire came un-soldered from the switch inside the crankcase. I took the switch out, cleaned it up, re-soldered it, and everything works fine now.
