Title: Gas Tank Rattle Post by wordet11 on 11/20/16 at 05:30:29 Hey guys, sorry if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I have a 2002 Savage with a horribly annoying rattle that comes from the gas tank at any speed. It is not the infamous speedometer rattle, I fixed that. With the tank pulled off the bike and the speedometer removed, I can shake the tank and still get the rattle. It's something inside the tank. BUT, it's not just a loose piece of something floating around. It sounds like some small piece on a mechanism moving back and forth that is attached to the inside of the tank. Any ideas on what this is? Thanks! |

It's just seems like it's attached to the inside. It's also on the left side toward the front so I can't see it. |

I picked up one of those drain inspection cameras with inbuilt light that plug into your computer USB ($20) which has been great for this sort of problem. |

However, it makes the noise regardless of whether or not the tank is full or empty. I'm going to try and get a mirror or something to try and get a look at the inside. Whatever the piece is, it has a bit of weight to it. Like a 1/4" nut or something. |
