First time to replace the spark plug

Second time to remove the cap from the new plug.  :P

It wasn't until I sat with a coffee after changing the plug and examining the old one that I realized I didn't remove the cap on the new plug ..I had just stuck the boot over cap and all.
Good thing I did that second exam of the old plug !!

I'll used an Iridium plug so I hope I remember next time .

You mean the threaded cap that goes on the top terminal nut?
How did you get the cap to click on?

That's annoying when you have to pull all that back off!  I've been trying to find a metric thumbscrew or knurled knob to replace the rear seat Allen screw and then come up with something for the 2 10mm seat bolts.  I'm not keen on drilling out the nuts for the seat bolts to use the pins.

I don't have a Corbin seat but $20 is way too much for a single thumbscrew:  http://corbin.com/accessories/blt1.shtml

Wouldn't that tick you off if you paid $ 20 for a thumbscrew....and it vibrated off! >:(

I'd head off to ace hardware and see what they got.

I checked mcmaster-carr and found these

They don't have metric though, but 1/4-20 is less than $4 for the shorter lengths.

And that flared shoulder style you could make a cable tie.

Yeah, the flared shoulder style is what I've been hoping for.  Already tried my Ace.  Will try Jaxx, too.  I was going to add a thick rubber washer to (hopefully) reduce the chance of it vibrating out.  Maybe melt a little plastic into threads to act as a low-strength thread locker, too.

I drilled mine and safety wired them and what do you know they were still there when I needed to remove them !

What I've done is remove the chrome covers on my bike and now I can remove the plug without taking anything off.

I also like the look of the bare cylinder head. :)

You can modify the right side head cover to swing out, plug access w/ tank on.

You can get longer bolts for the seat and double nut& threadlock them to make them poke out for easy access.

Justin,
Yes I know about the mod for the left side cover but I didn't want to do it. Maybe too lazy. :) The right cover comes off anyway.
As for the seat, I use long, no tool seat bolts, from a Triumph which fit perfectly and allow me to remove the seat without any tools.

I suspect that cylinder cooling is improved without the chrome covers. Not a bad idea in El Paso in the summer.
