Title: Tire/Tube matching
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 11/03/16 at 16:34:38

Metzler 140/80/15
The tube they sent says
160/80
140/90
150/90

Izzit gonna be okay?

I read some
How to change your tire
stuff here. After just getting a spanking, I wasn't really interested, but, I decided I would see how hard would it be to get the tired, thin IRC off. Not bad,  really. Three C clamps to get the far side set into the groove in the rim.

The tube has a 90* valve stem.

Any clues, link to a good
How to mount a new rear tire..
Would be appreciated.

I'm not going to mess with it till I talk to the vendor.
I'm not comfortable with a tube sized bigger than the tire.
A wrinkle wouldn't be okay..

What size did YOU order?

Well, I ordered the tire and tube from the same company,
I ordered the tire, and kinda Expected they would ship the tube that Should be used..
I'm screwed if it's too big,, I opened it...

You might be SOL.

Until someone decides to slap a 140/90 on.
I'll ship..
It's got a bent valve stem and everything..
Bridgestone, good stuff, but I don't think I'm gonna be using it,, unless I can get a bigger tire up under it.
The 05 accepted the Dunlop 140/90, but Gary told me the Metzlers might not fit.
I Want the 140/90, for the better highway RPM,,
AFTER I see the 140/80, and check the clearance, then I might try it.

I won't ever be going back to a 140/80. The 90 makes the speedo read correctly plus I've lost ~200 rpms at 65 mph! I'm sold on the larger tire. I'm using Pirellis and don't have any rubbing issues.

The shipping weight of the Metzler is less than the Dunlop..
Aww, maybe I didn't get it right,, I'm tired..

Get the right tube , too big is bad but you can get away with maybe one size smaller. Tires can differ in sizes on the inside. Too big you wind up pinching the tube anyways. Dunlop , Metzlers , Pirelli are all top shelf tires , I'm not one to use cheap tires , you get what you pay for !

I have use this tube for .. well.. quite a long time, as I keep just reordering what I ordered before from the same place:

Bridgestone Standard Motorcycle Tube With PV-78 Valve Stem 140/90x15

I run the Metzler 140/80x15 rear tire.

Baby powder or a little tire grease on the tube (not both!) will allow the tube to slip as it is inflated so it is less likely to crease.

NO, I don't do my own tires, but I do help the guy that does them.

Yes baby powder or cornstarch on tube and some inside tire helps , but for a straight tube air tire to seat the bead then release all the air let it sit for a minute then air it up to max pressure, that lets the tube straighten itself out.

Dealership said
No Problem,
Mounted it right up.
Used the balance beads,, DANG,, Munneee, $18.00 for the beads, IDK What they charged for the rim strip, but I spent $45.00 and change....
How many Ps in Ripppoff?
If I wasn't in a hurry I would have done it,,, and I was not sure about the tube,
AND I learned a bit watching..
Next time, I'll be more organized and ready.. The IRC just kinda disintegrated and I wanna go to Shreveport tomorrow..
