I'm looking at a 05' Ducati Monster 620i,... anybody got any horror stories that might talk me out of it?...
:-? (been sitting, fuel system needs cleaned, so she ain't running. 7400miles, $1500)...

Would be nice to hear it run , but

I would have that in my truck as fast as I could ! No hesitation !

Even if you don't like it make it run & wax it up for a flip !

Just make sure it has a clean title , no title no deal !!!

Change the cam belts or get ready for expensive noises. 12K miles or 2 years, whichever comes first.
Dealt with a few over the years that sat for awhile, got ridden, snapped a belt and had a piston-meets-valve explosion.
Other than that, nice bikes.
Kinda wonder why the fuel system would clog up. I have way more grief with carb bikes than injected ones.

The price is right. Parts and service are not what you're used to though...
Clogged fuel system seems odd on a fuely. Does the pump run? They're way down on power and I find them a bit small, even the 1100 monsters are tight, I'm 6'/165lbs. They handle very well, are light weight and are a hoot to ride. I'd do it...I love my 900ss

It is not the bike. It is you Bot. You are not a Duc kind of guy. Something to think about-you would have to hang out with other Duc riders. Also, when people saw you on it they would think, "Oh, he is a Duc kind of guy."

Serowbot, if the bike is within a few hours drive, consider taking a well charged battery and jump leads and one US gallon of what ever it runs on. Before doing this see if the owner will allow you to attempt starting it. Alternatively put it in gear and see if you can pushit around, see if you an hear expensive noises.

If its in good condition and you fit it, I'd say go for it. My wife rides one and it's a pleasure. Not as fast as my Pantah, but good all the same (and its not a ninja :p ). Make sure it starts and you get the red key and the immobiliser code card. If you don't have the card and red key and the immobiliser fails, you're up for an expensive new dash (where the immobiliser lives) or a computer reflash to disable the immobiliser. Hers is broken but luckily broken off, not on. You might fix the fuel thing by sorting the filter inside the tank. Belt drive engined ducs are reliable as an anvil apart from electrics, easy to service and parts are usually cheaper than a jap bike. Good luck. I'd do it.
