Okay, so, let's say it worked, flawlessly, he lands and walks away... What is the upside? Tore up your bike?
I'm wondering if the power lines and parachute didn't get together and slow him down.
I can't believe he went off a cliff with the chance of impaling himself on a pole, but, hey, he did ride, intentionally, off a cliff.

Taller cliff, higher ramp, parachute release a Lot sooner, shorter parachute cords maybe...
I would have just said

NO!

It seems he needed a few airplane jumps to know how long it took for the parachute to open.

What really amazes me...is that he did that without knowing that someday nearly 90 years later - YouTube would be invented! ;)

Did he think he was gonna Stick to the vertical net?
He was pretty close to the edge, and had no net across, to land On, to arrest the fall..
I wonder if he thought of that before he hit the ground.
