Title: Carburetor needle valve spacers
Post by HefyJefy on 10/03/16 at 19:31:39

So I finally got around to tweaking the needle spacer on the 2015 s40 Boulvard. This is to try and smooth out the surging at mid-throttle settings that this bike has had from day one.  My question is whether there are different spacers available and if so how do the thicknesses change?
I made a replacement nylon spacer that was about half the thickness of the stock one and it seems to have improved things.  (The original was 3mm)

Most of us just go to a good hardware store, and buy washers made for #4 machine screws.

Most bikes respond well to replacing the white spacer with 3 washers.  My bike still had a mid throttle surge - and removing 1 more washer and running just 2 on the needle cured it.

OK thanks.  Yes I wondered whether the material being nylon was important - seems not.
