stew nice job on your tutorial and photos .i think i had a wobble yesterday  could something be loose? that just needs to tightened before i buy a fork brace? out of balance tire or something else?  you have a 2008 and tkat has the dimensions for it ,what other years will yours fit? how long did it take to get? how many savage.com members have some form of a fork brace and why?

Again not to take away from the OP if he ever returns...but if you need something promptly here's my recent TKAT install. Very pleased with the finished product.  $120 shipped.

Tell us when the wobble occurred....what were you doing?

A wobble could mean that you need to repack your steering head bearings.

Thanks, hotprops!

The link Versy referenced may have answered your questions, but in short I installed my fork brace as a preventative measure. I wasn't having any issues and my bike has 7000 miles and is stored inside and in great working order, somewhat newer tires, etc., but after riding the Dragon with some members here and them seeing how hard I was tearing the place up ( ;D ;D ;D) they suggested a fork brace.

The only thing I know to make sure is tight (I'm not an S40 expert) is your triple tree top bolts/steering head (shouldn't be loose), your axle nut, and your front fender bolts. If those are all tight (the front fender is pretty solid as far as fenders) then you have a tire issue or a bearing issue...maybe.

The fork brace just makes things a little tighter and keeps the wheel from straying away from you on road tar snakes and heavily front loaded turns, like the Dragon. Without it, the forks can twist a little.

Yes, TKAT has just about all of the dimensions. Just email him your info and he will tell you if he doesn't...as well as tell you current lead time. Varies depending on what he has going on but he's legit, no worries. I think I got mine in a few weeks, but that was because he was having computer issues and he was good about keeping me informed...but I wasn't in any kind of rush.

Hope that helps!

A wobble could also be swing-arm bearings.  I had a 350 that would wobble in tight turns. Tried everything then one day I thought about the swing arm.  Sure enough it had some play in it.  New bearings and problem solved.

Good, I sure wasn't gonna try again.
You can fix this, too.

LOL! Now that's not fair....  :)

Anyhow, I agree, make sure the steering head bearing are greased and properly adjusted.
