Title: 2017 Model S40 Post by jcstokes on 09/30/16 at 01:13:14 Just looking at a 2017 model on a NZ dealers website. I'm not enamoured of the colour, however, the crankcase appears powder coated or painted, as are the fork legs and the mirrors, so there's a lot less cheap chrome to go rusty. If they coated the exhaust pipe, it would be better still. |

Title: Re: 2017 Model S40 Post by Dave on 09/30/16 at 03:19:22 The fork legs and engine side cases are a lightly polished aluminum with a clear coat (not chrome), and when the clear coat get chipped or cracked moisture gets underneath and corrodes the aluminum. The black coating could be more durable...only time will tell. I don't really like the paint or decals on the new model.......I did like the two-tone paint on the previous model. |

If the rims hold up and the cosmetics don't go all funk, then, I will have to call it good. I did like some of the recent color combinations a lot better. If they can justify These changes, why can't they ditch the chrome trash can and put a decent exhaust on the thing? I can accept less sexy new for not looking like it's got psoriasis in five years. |

It looked like the bike just rolled off the showroom floor with guy standing near it , I was talking with him about his bike , I was so focused on the bike instead of the owner , I didn't realize who I was talking , when I finally looked at this guy dressed in black leathers holding his helmet & gloves , I just blurted it out "your Malcom Smith aren't you" , he smiled and said yeah I am ! For those who don't know the name watch the movie "On Any Sunday" Steve Mcqueens buddy ! Almost got to ride one of Mcqueens Husqvarnas , but that another story for another day ! |
