Title: Long time, no post
Post by Yonuh Adisi FSO on 09/12/16 at 10:08:55

Have been gone a while. Been very busy with life. Howdy everyone.

I finally acquired another bike. My oldest brother has given me his old 1983 Honda GL500 Silverwing. Unfortunately it's a basket case so it will be a while before it is even ready to fire up. It needs wiring harnesses, re-timed, new tank, and quite a few other things.

Will try to provide pics when I get a chance.

What's the plan of attack?

How's life on Tatooine?

How did the windmill turn out?

Verslagen,

Had to move from Tatooine and come back to New Mexico. Was spending more money on gas to get back and forth to work than I was making on the paycheck so wasn't able to complete the turbine or the other plans I had.

JOG,

No actual plan of attack as of yet. I need to get me a repair manual for that particular bike first and get my tools out of storage. It will be a slow process, I need to get the wiring taken care of and engine running first off. Unfortunately I now live in a little duplex apartment with no real space to work on it, but with luck I will manage somehow.

I'd do the quickest and least amount of electrical required to get spark, and prove that motor. I would use the battery out of something else to get it running.

welcome back man!!!

I'm glad you are doing okay, well, it seems you are okay at least.

got a neat little bike project to work on and man, I've seen some pretty cool versions of those.  You can pretty much do what you want.

Boofer has the same model bike as you do.

Verslagen, do you remember what Boofer said about his bike ?

Idled ok, soon as you get going, ran on 1 cylinder... to which I said clean carbs.

You can tell which side isn't pulling it's weight... it's cold... or at least not as hot.

So, if someone goes to the doctor and their temperature is 88degrees, doesn't that indicate they're a democrat?

That is what it was doing when my brother had it. Unfortunately my brother tried to let one of my sister's friends decide to work on it and he had just left it out in the weather uncovered and unprotected for over a year which is why it is in such bad shape now.

I at least have it under a tarp right now but that idiot didn't even do that. It is a real shame too, because this is a Silverwing before Honda decided to turn the Silverwing into a scooter.

Well, just got my tools out of storage. Talk about a heavy job. Now I got to unload them from my truck and work on my car. (needs tune-up, oil change, and brakes.) After that I can start tinkering with the bike.

I'm hoping for my move soon.  I am lucky in that I bought two enclosed trailers while I had some money after the divorce and house sale.  Money's gone but when I finally get there, I'll have a dry spot for my tools.
