Title: Hwy 129 Post by pg on 09/08/16 at 17:40:11 I'm in Robbinsville, NC and this truly is a special part of the world. Unfortunately only here for 2 days and I have to head back. I have some real nice photos if anyone is interested. The dragon was tough this year. There were four accidents yesterday and I happened to come two of them after the fact. They said their was a fatality this past weekend as well. I spoke to some locals they say their is two or three accidents a day. I didn't realize it was that dangerous. Best regards, |

Title: Re: Hwy 129 Post by Dave on 09/08/16 at 18:41:50 Don't miss riding on 28....it is one of my favorite roads in the area. You can get on it at Deals Gap on the north end....and just ride south! |

Title: Re: Hwy 129 Post by RaleighGuy on 09/09/16 at 05:33:57 I saw a story about Norman Reedus (actor from The Walking Dead show) riding down the dragon this past summer. It was a pretty interesting article. http://www.travelpulse.com/news/entertainment/norman-reedus-gets-in-touch-with-his-spiritual-side-on-ride.html |
Title: Re: Hwy 129 Post by sjaskow - FSO on 09/09/16 at 09:24:57 I rode the Dragon on the Vision last year and, to be honest, I wasn't that impressed. Yes, it was long and curvy but I was expecting something much harder after all the hype. And The Hub in Robbinsville: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g49483-d5328248-Reviews-The_Hub-Robbinsville_North_Carolina.html was a yummy place to have lunch after The Dragon. |

Well, if it did not hold your interest then just pick up your average speed by 10-20 mph. 8-) |
Title: Re: Hwy 129 Post by MMRanch on 09/10/16 at 21:23:44 Yea ... just try to keep you speed between 30mph min. and 39mph max. Good luck with that . ;D Anybody can jerk it open on the strait sections , but that Min. part will humble most of us ... me too on a couple of them ! ::) Enjoyed the pictures : :) |
