Title: No power.
Post by darthesteban on 09/02/16 at 10:30:32

Hi all,
I have a 1988 Suzuki Savage LS650
I was riding it and everything was going smooth then all of a sudden my bike kinda jumped a couple of times and then lost power altogether. I have not been able to get it started since. When I place the key in the ignition and turn it to "on" the neutral light won't even turn on. I've charged the battery, and changed the 20 amp fuses to no avail. I have not tested the battery, but I doubt it is the battery. Just bought some new parts that are coming in tomorrow and would love to install them on a working bike ha.

I'd be looking at the connectors under the tank.

You might also check the safety cut-outs...
Clutch can be jumpered at the handlebar, and sidestand connector is under the seat.  Disconnect the switch and connect the 2 wired together to bypass.

Will interlocks keep the neutral light from coming on?

Don't know,.. don't think do, but... if the neutral switch fails, the cut-outs may not allow the engine to run...

The switch failure can be bypassed by starting with the kickstand up.
But if it's a diode failure neither will work.
