Title: 2003 bike with 4 speed tranny? Post by Winesquid on 09/01/16 at 16:00:11 Hello fellow Savage riders, I just finished a Ryca CS-1 conversion on a 2003 (based on VIN) Savage and find that I only have 4 gears. I understood that year to have 5 speed tranny. My questions to the collective knowledge of this forum are: 1. Is there registry of engine numbers to frame numbers (VIN) to tell if the engine was switched. 2. Is it possible to fit a 4 speed gearbox on a 2003 engine? 3. Is there any chance I actually have a 5 speed tranny, and there's an issue getting to 5th gear? The shifter gives no feel that there is another gear to shift up to. Thanks, |
