Title: Jackpot?
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 08/21/16 at 05:32:37

Did I find something or is there an easier way?

http://mysecuritypro.com/YamahaYH51KeyBlanks.aspx

I only got one key and that kinda makes me uncoooomfortable.

A local locksmith should have or be able to get blanks, and cut a spare from your original key

You're on the right track. Exactly what I did, and I'm pretty sure my locksmith used a Yamaha/ilco blank also. Works perfectly.

Buy two keys, and tape one down inside your tail light very well and sorta hidden. If ever stranded, you have a secret key you can access with a phillips screwdriver.

Well, I might have a secret key, but You might not...
And how do I get in the tools? My kooltit is behind a Locked cover..
Would I just Try to give you a hard time? Me? Naaah..
I'll see if a local has the blanks. If not, I'll get a couple. The hardware store has one of those goosebump inducing key cutting machines. It's like fingernails on the chalkboard to me.

ilco X118/YH49 blank will also work I think. That's what my spare is. I just keep it in my wallet.

According to the locksmith that cut spare keys for my 2013 S40;

"Key Blank is Ilco X117 perfect fit".

Why ? There is more than one blank that can be successfully cut to match your key. If your locksmith doesn't happen to have one of the ones mentioned, ask him to try one of the others.

My local Ace hardware had the right blanks.  they first tried on some fancy new key cutting machine but ended up using the old style grinder to get it right.

My local locksmith had nothing....I was able to get some blanks on eBay.  There are several different blanks fo rte Savage, so be sure to match yours up to the blank you order.

I found a few blanks we can use in that pdf.

The chart is handy....but it doesn't help me to match the key up.

Here is what I used to get a key blank, and the pictures helped me to sort out which one I needed.  If you click on the photo of the key that matches yours....it will automatically plug the code into the order blank. (You don't have to order from them....but it works to match your key shape to the proper code).

Profile
and not have Someone wagging a finger at me for it.

Am I supposed to See the profile of Our keys on that page?

So, in digging through the little bag that came with MY SAVAGE, ( emphasis added to inform any who didn't know and to remind you others that I am RIDING AGAIN, whew,  that feels Good )
I found a key. It's an ignition key! Ohh, buttitsnot the Right one..
So, since I Know the guy has another Savage I figured it must be for it. And, since I had to ship his allen wrenches, and assorted tools and the Final payment for MY SAVAGE, (  :)   )
I just shipped that key...

Well, as they say ,,

OOPSAWSHIT,,,

That's the key to the toolkit,,,  his disappeared on a ride
Aaaaand he's gonna mail it back.

Insurance, liability, above state minimums, no PIP, since I can't Lose wages, and uninsured motorists, a Whopping $135.00 a Year...
PaidinFull,, aww yeah,,

Okay, offwegonow, gotta go pay the great State of Texas tax money for buying MY SAVAGE, and transfer title thereof.

Ours are not that previous page specifically JOG, I was just showing that as an example of what diagrams the document shows.

If you look at page 29, I am pretty sure these are our blanks.  Mine, IIRC, was the YH51. Yours may vary, but highly likely it's one of these.

First stop ,, NailDitt! $3.50 later, got a plain key, no plastic shoulder, and I sewed it into a spot in the wallet.

Wow $35.oo for a wallet ,  I've seen those at our local leather/bike shop for $10.95 .   If ya haven't bought one yet come to Lynchburg and visit JUDY'S LEATHER  (and come by to say howdy while you here  ;) )

my 05 uses key YH51 on that last picture.

I like it well enough to get two more, they are supposed to discontinue them, or they lied,, who knows?
I recommend it, especially if you can get it for ten bucks. I don't like fat billfolds. The trifold design is horrid to.me.
Like stuffing a brick in your pocket.

Stew! yu found my wallet modeling picture!
It holds EVERYTHING you need! Including my S&W 9mm full size!
I like to tie a strap around the bottom of the pouch to my thigh...makes for a quick draw!
Oh, and it holds my spare eyeglasses and a fifth of crown...ok...just a pint flask...  :D

I actually sorta like the wallet Stew found, it's pretty cool looking and sooper roomy
Justin, I too use a front pocket wallet, though not that type, mine i ususally get d=from WalMart for like $5
unfortunately this last time they no longer carry them in stores and i had to buy a small tri fold  >:(

Title: Re: Jackpot?
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 08/25/16 at 18:13:15

I don't have a front pocket wallet. It's chiropractic approved because it's thin. Sitting on a chunk of brick is bad for your back.

BACK SAVER WALLET: BEST FRONT POCKET WALLET FOR MEN
You might not pack it in front, but it's still a 'front pocket wallet'
I started carrying mine in my front pocket when I got my first Ninja, because i was afraid I'd lose my 'trucker wallet' at speed somewhere along I 10, and never am i going back, front pocket wallets rule

My wallet problems were resolved by having no money  ;). anyway, the wallet goes in a jacket pocket. I hate stuff in my pants pockets.
I really ought to go get a spare key cut, too.
