That hurts... I didn't see what caused it.

He crossed the white line so I guess there was water on it and he goosed it.
Or he found the cousin of OF's possum out for revenge.
Check the grassline for beady eyes.

Well , apparently the NUT that connects the Seat to the Handlebars had a laps of Forethought related to the Grin Factor of Acceleration !   ;)

Best I can speculate .  ;D

How much gear is ATGATT?  Here is a pretty interesting analysis.....  Are you going to be ready for a tip over?  Perhaps a Pete Rose?  Not how about a Pete Rose going 65 mph?   :o

Best regards,

He must have a high pain tolerance.

By the time he videoed endorphins & beer had kicked in. Had similar road rash years ago, still not completely healed, still must have some gravel or glass under the skin. Not so bad when it first happened , it's when it dries & shrinks and the itchy scabs you can't reach drives you crazy. Months of healing. His wasn't as bad as you might think, just that spot near his knee was rashed, the rest is like a friction burn. I won't say he deserved it but hope he learned something, doubtful ! Kinda like a bad sunburn that takes 6 weeks to heal !

WOW! I'll bet I stared at that for a solid minute..
Whoever snapped that shot got one Fine sports clip.. Dangitt,, that is crazee,,
A picture After the slide would have been Super Cool.
A wider field, showing the poor schmuck he's about to clobber would be good, too.

I needed more Pete Rose stuff. Found this, it's interesting, but the good stuff is in the comments.

of course few if any of us wear ATGATT, either, all the folks on the rides I've been on so far are in jeans, some wear vests rather than jackets, half helmets, etc
we all make choices based on risk assessment, he just chose a lot more risk than most of us

I am taking chances with my jeans.  I wear a full face helmet, a jacket with armor in the elbows/shoulders/spine, gloves with armor at the knuckles, and boots.  When I am riding at the Dragon or when I am going on a long ride - I do wear jeans with Kevlar in the knees and hips - but I don't wear pants with armor (maybe I should).

On a very rare instance I will take my jacket off for a short while, and I would guess that this only happens about once a year.  Those rare times happen when it is really hot.....like 90 and above, and I am riding in downtown traffic and not getting any airflow to help keep me cool.  Once I am in a place where I am going to be back up to highway speeds and getting airflow - the jacket goes back on.

hey, I can't say anything, my ownself, I've been known to buzz down to the corner store helmetless

I used to ride barefoot, in shorts.  Stoopid young me.

Same here. I feel safe enough, however, I haven't gone down and dragged my leg down the street either!

I've done worse
women were involved, of course  ;D

I have never bumped my head in a get off, but i still wear a FF helmet,
I am guilty of sneakers, jeans, no gloves, though
I'm of two minds re jackets
I know for a fact my leather one will beat all billy hell out of my mesh one in abrasion resistance, but the mesh has the armour
mostly I wear the leather one

Yeah, I'm guilty of going out for a quick ride with t-shirt and jeans on, helmet is the only gear I use every single time. But 95% of the time, I've got the mesh, armored jacket OR in cool weather, my awesome Harley brand leather jacket, my new Kevlar jeans with guards in the knees, generic fullface helmet (still haven't found a cool, retro helmet that fits me well), gloves with "super knuckles". But no boots yet.

in the pic Dave posted, note that there is 'hamburger skin' even in the area of the back that was covered my denim
the Kevlar reinforced jeans do much better, although the 'bilt' brand I looked at left large areas, such as front of thighs, covered only with denim
Maybe other brands are better
