Title: Exhaust?
Post by Thebombkc12 on 08/07/16 at 20:22:52

Looking for loud performance pipes. Just took off the worst slip
On job of my life and now bike has straight pipe. It's loud as balls and I like it but don't want to mess up the carb. Best recommended quick and permanent fix. Saw forum for Harley dyna swap. But those are stock pipes arnt they? I want it mean and loud.

90% of us (or more) use a Dyna. It's loud enough for me.

The louder it is the meaner it is to get it jetted right. Performance suffers from too little back pressure. The Dyna is agood comprise. There's a small, loud,Emgo, but the jetting/power, I don't know about. I think Dave might.

Previous owner fitted an Enfield long bottle - it has a Harley-esque note.

The Emgo ones are ear splittingly loud. I had to make a proper bafle for mine.

I'm sorry, I don't support that form of rude behavior.

Last week we were eating at a restaurant in Covington, KY that had outdoor seating (Molly Malone's).  It was a nice summer evening, and we were having a nice dinner and visit with my uncle.  A dude on a Harley with open pipes came by, and found the need to open the throttle and impress us with his obnoxiously loud pipes.....it was ear splitting when you are seated 10 feet from the street.  Everyone seated outdoors was subject to this childish behavior, and the jerk on the motorcycle somehow found pleasure by doing this?
:-?

This is the kind of behavior that gets motorcycles banned from camp grounds, condominium associations, public parks, etc.

I have a 2.5 inch slip on over my header pipe. I had a plate welded onto the end of the header then drilled it to 3/4 of an inch.  This gives it perfect back-pressure and also kills the noise some. I need no muffler and the bike looks and sounds much better. Not to mention it is cheap.

Open pipe with a single homemade "baffle"? Got a video?
