Title: This is getting ridiculous! Post by Kris01 on 08/05/16 at 18:39:47 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2016/08/05/social-worker-calls-911-because-shes-afraid-of-a-police-officer-he-then-violently-arrests-her/?utm_term=.dd39f804b709 This is what the media "racist cops" BS leads to! You get pulled over for anything at all, you comply with the officer. You don't call 911 because you feel your life is in danger. |

Title: Re: This is getting ridiculous! Post by justin_o_guy2 on 08/08/16 at 08:26:39 I'd expect a psych degree to prepare one to be able to talk to people, keep them cool, I wonder how many people are actually a little bit scared of talking to a cop now. I have to admit, my attitude from childhood of I need some help finding a place, ohh, lookie, a cop, he'll help me. Is not the same. The message sent by Telling people that the guy was pulled over for a busted light But wound up Dead is simple. There's no safe contact with a cop. |
Title: Re: This is getting ridiculous! Post by Kris01 on 08/15/16 at 19:43:24 I had some dealings with an officer recently. I was involved in an accident (not my fault). The cop showed up (actually 3 of them), took a report and was very nice. He never perceived a threat so he wasn't on the defensive. I wasn't scared. No one was shot. I still trust 'em! |

Title: Re: This is getting ridiculous! Post by HovisPresley on 08/16/16 at 00:09:40 God, yes, but being God, she gets to ride the new T120.... "I'd expect a psych degree to prepare one to be able to talk to people, keep them cool, " In the UK we have a policy of the Police trying to 'diffuse the situation'. |

I don't think so. All the bad examples get plastered all over the TV. In my experience, cops are people. They don't want to be shot any more than the rest of us. If they give you an order, you comply. You don't like it? Tough! The time to fight is in court, not when you're being arrested. They do things to keep themselves safe. They don't know who they've just come up against. Give 'em respect and they'll return it. |

There might be a bit more paranoia than usual, leading to more mistakes. Cops are good, but they are trained to shoot. |
Title: Re: This is getting ridiculous! Post by justin_o_guy2 on 08/16/16 at 22:23:24 Pain compliance.. it's taught, it's emphasized, it's used. |

No, I've known a few cops. There are 3 that live around me. Their policy is not shoot first, ask questions later. If you reach into your jacket (even in a non-threatening way), the cop is trained to look at that as a possible threat. You might be pulling out a gun. It's the same thing as a mc rider seeing something move in his peripheral vision. You look to see if it's a threat to your safety. If things get ugly, the cops are usually more trained than anyone else to shoot accurately. I'd rather hear of a cop shooting an armed assailant than the other way around. I still say we're safer with them than without them. |

I still say we're safer with them than without them.[/quote] I'm not denying that we are safer with cops than without them. In no way do I want to see any cop hurt for any reason. I'm glad you have good cops around you, however, do you think that ALL cops are created equal? in training, in education, in years of service? I am not anti-cop. But not all cops are angels that can do no wrong. Everyone can make a mistake. To give cops a blanket pass on all ill behavior is ignorant. I agree that a lot of these BLM shootings should be seen as examples of how NOT to behave on the "victim's" side. Most cops are great, but there are issues that need to be dealt with, quota systems, paying for cops via ticketing, increased militarization, no civil oversight, etc... as shown in the link YOU provided, there are BAD cops, The cop in your link seems to have been looking for trouble, hopefully he'll get some kind of disciplinary action, he probably shouldn't be on the street. a quote from your link: "“I’m as pro-law-enforcement as they come, but that’s not good police conduct,” he told the Chronicle. “You can’t escalate a situation and then claim someone is ‘resisting arrest.’ That’s ridiculous.” In an interview with The Post, he added: “This officer escalated the situation from a peaceful encounter over a traffic stop to this sort of confrontation that was completely unneeded. He should have just written her a traffic ticket. He never even started to write her a traffic ticket.” Fertitta told The Post that he is working to get White’s charge dismissed so it does not affect her professional career." |
Title: Re: This is getting ridiculous! Post by Kris01 on 08/18/16 at 05:25:47 Not all cops are created equal. There's good and bad like everything else. Unfortunately, the media sensationalism is always playing up the incidents that show cops in a negative light. It makes good ratings apparently. Maybe we should have the media arrested for inciting a riot? That seems to be all they are doing. |
Title: Re: This is getting ridiculous! Post by Serowbot on 08/18/16 at 07:27:36 NEWSFLASH... Nothing happened with cops today,... they were all out doing their jobs, but they didn't shoot anybody. Details a ten... :-? |
