Title: Water in the speedo chain port?
Post by cheapnewb24 on 08/05/16 at 10:32:49

I'm getting ready to pull the engine, and I think I got water  in the speedo port. I'm going to have the head and clutch cover off anyway, and I'm going to change the oil. How do I deal with this.

Dad doesn't seem very concerned. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Unhappy/unhappy-028.gif

I know... Don't say it... I should have put tape on it. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Battle/hammer261.gif

Changing the oil should do it .oil floats on top which means the water should exit first, there might be some extra trapped by the clutch cover gasket.

the upper part of the speedo drive has an o-ring, so there maybe some water there.  Spray with wd40 and hope it takes it out.

otherwise, ride it for an hour and you won't have to worry about any water.
