Title: Savage Greg & Julie
Post by KennyG on 07/26/16 at 22:54:40

What ever happened to Savage Greg & Julie?

I look over the Savage Companion CD frequently and think we owe Greg a lot for many of the good ideas floating around The Forum.

Some years back there were a few folks that came on to the forum and did not want to play nice, and I think Greg just got tired of the back and forth stuff and decided to leave.  He was also spending more time building a nice part-time bike repair service and his time became much more limited, so that was an issue as well.
He spent a lot of time  putting together the 1st and 2nd edition of his CD.

Lancer,

Thank you.

I really enjoy looking over the companion CD.

It is too bad that there isn't an easy way to eject those who do not want to play nice.

I wish Greg and Julie well.

Kenny

This all occurred before we kicked the TallTable out of the cafe.
Mud slingers have terrible aim.

But in some cases,
it was newbs asking the same question day in and day out...
or contesting every bit of advice.

It does get a bit tiresome to respond to the same questions over and over again.  Things like "backfires, head plug leak, cone filters, slash cut muffler issues, fuel filters"....those questions come up every week.  It sure would be nice if we could somehow write up a detailed response to those issues, and we could provide a link for the Noob to read.....then come back to his thread if he had any additional questions.

The Ninja 250 forum has really nice format for providing new folks a thorough description of the bike and the related care and feeding topics.  If you need to know about any issue....it most likely is described in detail:

I sorta feel  like out tech section offers a good overview (I am sure i am guilty of asking a question that is in there :o).  Maybe we just need to take questions/answers that aren't in there yet and add them to the table of contents/links.  Unfortunately as new people come along and aren't used to finding their way around the forum they will probably ask things that are in there until they are nudged a little to go use/look at it.

I've always felt that we need to develop levels of expertise.
Us mod's are here a large percentage of the time.  And while we can handle most questions off the top of our heads, we shouldn't.  If we do, we'll be burnt out in a short time.

You, the up and coming experts need to field the questions 1st.
And we need your help/input to improve the forum.

the Ninja 500 forum had all these question / answer 'stickie' threads, it worked very well

The 250 forum although it hasn't been around as long, has a ton more of participants because of the popularity of the bike.
The Savage/S40 is not quite as popular with the "young crowd bike newbies" as it is a "cruiser" and not a neato' sport looking bike :)
I actually put the link to our suzukisavage.com site on the back of my tour pack for those who see me on the road.

Maybe someone could email greg & julie? and let them know we still appreciate the work they did on the CD?
