Title: Stock speedometer accuracy Post by youngde811 on 07/20/16 at 21:18:15 Hi. 2014 S40, 3100 miles on odometer. Completely stock, including the tires. So how accurate is the S40 speedo? My son complains that I'm not keeping up with him but my speedo shows speed limit or a bit above. The Boy has an Intruder 1400 and a lead throttle hand, so I don't know how much to believe. My riding doesn't seem much different from my driving so I can't tell. Along those lines. Is there an instrument cluster (tach, speedo) available for handlebar mounting on the S40? Thanks... david |
Title: Re: Stock speedometer accuracy Post by Serowbot on 07/20/16 at 22:07:19 The S40/Savage, like most bikes.. tends to read about 10% over actual speed... 50mph on the speedo = 45mph actual... (varies with tire brand and wear)... |

Title: Re: Stock speedometer accuracy Post by Dave on 07/22/16 at 04:34:40 That 2002 rescue bike I had was dead accurate with the stock IRC tire.....I checked it with the GPS. I think the accuracy varies from bike to bike. |
