any tricks to getting the chrome trim caps that cover some of the bolt heads off?  I don't see any lip or slot on the sides to pry on.

I hope that you are not referring to the acorn nuts on some of the head studs.....

The ones on the handlebar clamps and the footpegs are just chrome colored plastic. You can pry them out with a tiny screwdriver.

I'd use a knife blade inserted about 1/8"and pry gently moving around as you go.

olsNslow, those are the exactly the ones I am referring to.  Ill try a sharp knife blade and some gently lifting then.  Thanks much!

Pry them off and throw them away. That's what I did.

I used a tiny screwdriver on most and a utility knife on the ones that were on a little tighter. If you're planning on putting them back on make sure you aren't forcing anything because they will get marred up or crack easily.

Thanks for the info ya'll and I've been successful on the removal. Yes I do plan on keeping them, especially the ones on the handlebar clamps as I like the clean look of having that hole covered and they keep moisture from pooling in there.
