I think this question was asked before. I think the consensus was that the entire engine wouldn't fit as a unit. There's also a lot of parts that are not interchangeable. Apparently it's not the same engine.

A friend of mine has a '15 Dr650.  Lower case is similar. Top end has 2 spark plugs. And the oil cooler.  Other than Sprocket and exhaust header, It may bolt to Ls frame.

If I remember correctly, not much if anything is interchangeable.  Perhaps a piston with the proper shop work.

Best regards,

Early hotrodders did use a few DR parts.

The 95mm piston can work....but you have to bore the Savage Cylinder and the Wiseco is a better piston and cheaper to get.

The cam can work - but it really is too wild of a cam for the Savage.

Other engine parts are different, the cylinder and head have different spacing on cylinder bolts and oil ports, and the mount are not in the same place.  You could get a DR650 engine to fit if you cut and modified the frame - but then the exhaust also exits on the other side of the head.  An engine swap would be a challenge...but it could be done.  Not sure you could get the pulley to work....I don't know how much shaft sticks out from the engine case.....or if it is spaced to line up with the Savage rear hub.

I am thinking about building a Yamazuki SR695 using the lower cradle of ls650 frame on to 80 SR500 frame and then overlay the 2 harnesses.
From a distance it will be tough to see the modded frame and oversized thumper, chain alignment will either make or put the brakes on this idea.
