Title: Loud after replacing cam chain adjuster
Post by rmoon3 on 06/16/16 at 08:29:32

Hey all. I'm a new owner of a 1988 Savage and new to the forum, but it has already been incredibly helpful.

I just replaced my cam chain adjuster with a Verslavvy (Thanks man!). And it seemed to go pretty smoothly. However, now it seems to be running louder than normal when in neutral or when I engage the clutch. Any thoughts?

It has right at 30k on it, 10w-40 motor oil, and new clutch and exhaust gaskets.

Thanks!

Have you used tubing shoved up er, in your ear to listen for Where that Noisier spot is? Did you clean up where the header gasket seals? I don't know if you are supposed to stretch the new one out a bit before installation. I never replaced mine, but had it out a coupla times, I just stretched it a bit, carefully.
There is always the chance that you are being paranoid?

Did you remember to pull the plastic tab out of the adjuster?

What kind of noise are you hearing?
