Title: Decal Removal Post by hockmanjosh on 06/13/16 at 09:11:36 I want to remove the savage decals from the sides of the gas tank. I saw a guy on youtube cut around a decal, then heat gun and remove, there was paint and clear coat under his decal. I removed a small bit of mine, but it doesn't appear to have paint and clear coat under the decal. Any ideas? |

Title: Re: Decal Removal Post by KennyG on 06/13/16 at 11:08:22 How I removed my chrome decals was to let the tank run low on gas and set the bike in the Texas sun for a couple of hours. Then I used fishing line to saw through the gookum that holds the decals onto the tank. I pulled the bike into my garage and after the tank cooled off I then cleaned the mess up with GoofOff. I wouldn't put any kind of solvent on hot paint. There is a posting on here IIRC that has pictures removing the decals. Kenny G |

The chrome "badges" are not decals.....they are stuck "on" the paint with foam tape. The "decals" are under the clear coat paint layer - but over the base color coat. I really don't know how you could get the decals off and save the paint. It is not as easy as getting the "stuff" out of an Oreo! |

Title: Re: Decal Removal Post by Kris01 on 06/14/16 at 19:43:35 It's sort of Indian feather-like. You know...savages! BTW, I don't mean to be offensive to any native Americans. I'm part Cherokee. ;) |

Title: Re: Decal Removal Post by Kris01 on 06/15/16 at 09:05:25 I've been tracing my family tree lately. I got all the way back to about 1580 before it became untraceable. Turns out my ancestors came from Armagh County, Ireland. My Great Grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee though. |
