The Clymer says table 1 but it doesn't specify head nuts or bolts. It states Nuts 1,2,3,4??? What the hell is that? I hope it's referring to the head nut bolts...

Does anyone have the correct torque value in ft. lbs? >:(

I would think it should be between 40-50 ft lbs? I put new copper washers on with a dollop of rtv gasket maker.

My torque wrench is calibrated with in lbs but I know just divide by 12. Or multiply ft lbs by 12 to get in lbs. D'oh!

Head bolts are around 30 ft./lbs, the cylinder head cover screws are only 8 ft./lbs......and easily stripped by folks who try to use their 150 ft./lb torque wrench on them.

A 3/8" torsion bar from Sears wasn't much.
The little bolts, just go with a 1/4" ratchet, and make pass after pass after pass, letting the clamping force press the goo out thin. You can feel when it comes tight, and eight pound of torque delivered by a four inch ratchet make s for a pretty firm hand. Don't STRIVE to feel eight pounds, strive to Feel when the bolts come tight. Which ever comes first,but I don't think I ever found eight pounds torque.

Even the torque listing isn't specific as to head bolt nuts. OK so I backed each one off a little and torqued em to 25 ft lbs. Who uses newton meters in the states? Adds more confusion to an already confused table of torque.

What they say is 8mm and 9 mm to which I assume is referring to the actual stud diameter. 2 nuts on the bottom are 8mm studs and the 4 top studs are 9mm? Educated guess so. Sheesh!!

It should say top 4 head nuts bottom 2 head nuts. The valve cover is a no brainer. Don't need a torque wrench on those. ::)

Yep, five or six careful passes and the cover is down.
The gap Is the cam bearing clearance, a true
Less Is more moment.
Bigger it is, the crappier the oil pressure up there.
