And I asked questions, and took up a looong time out of his day, and I was having fun.. But I did always like a good dictionary. Bought one that day. It's 43 now. It was on the floor by my chair. I called it My Howard Cosell challenge book. He used words I'd never heard and I was So hoping to catch him wrong.. nope.. Ali made an impact on America. Maybe he saved boxing, it was, if you'll pardon me, on the ropes. Certainly not a big topic. But then He came along... And someone stole his brand new bicycle,, You guys know that is what started him boxing? I know a guy whose father sat next to him on a short flight. He said Ali was kind and engaging. After a time, he began to speak in rhyme and carried on a complete conversation in rhyme. Dude was obviously a genius, and such a good hearted man.. Who would spank you if you came into a ring with him. Strange how that works.. WOW! Thrilla in Manilla... bet we are in for some reruns! |
