Title: Oil plug madness Post by Redryder652 on 06/04/16 at 10:53:17 I'd like to get a magnetic oil plug for my savage, I've seen the cheap aluminum ones on flebay, but I want to steer clear of them. I would like one made of steel or something of that sort and a flange, like the original, which ones do you use? And is length an issue if it's shorter than stock? I've heard good stuff about goldplug, but I don't know which one to get. Thanks In advance. :) |
Title: Re: Oil plug madness Post by Dave on 06/04/16 at 11:44:42 I haven't used one....but I would not buy one shorter than the OEM one. The case is aluminum and you want as many threads in use as possible. |

Title: Re: Oil plug madness Post by Redryder652 on 06/04/16 at 13:14:00 Thanks, aren't you worried though without the flange the first few threads might get screwed? Or is it not an issue? |
Title: Re: Oil plug madness Post by verslagen1 on 06/04/16 at 13:17:50 I've been screwing a long time and I've never needed a flange to get started. Flanges are for stopping. |
Title: Re: Oil plug madness Post by Kris01 on 06/04/16 at 22:04:35 I just keep my oil changed regularly. I really shouldn't need a magnetic plug with fresh oil and a clean filter. |
Title: Re: Oil plug madness Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/05/16 at 20:49:03 Should/shouldn't,,,machines don't care. When stuff starts failing, it may Not know how much care it has been given. Take, whatever, determine the depth of the threads. Buy a plug with enough threads to fill it. Get Rotella 15-40, Run the Snot outta that thing. |
