Title: Camping
Post by Witchdoctor on 05/24/16 at 22:32:28

I took my thumper out on some trails camping a few times last fall/winter.
I'm in Florida so winter is just nice cool weather minus the ten billion flying insects and snakes all over the place. Had fun wrestling it though some sugar sand. I did notice first gear does not like to thump less than 10 miles an hour. It's quite a challenge but I feel like it gave me some crash coarse riding skills.

Anyone else do a little off-roading and camping? lol  8-)

I'm trying to muster up the courage to camp...
I did it when I was kid, without a second thought.
Now,.. I don't know which I'm scared of,.. bugs or bears...
Psycho killers are in there somewhere too...
;D

Sand,..  I get through with throttle wicking...  low gear, and wick the throttle whenever I feel loose...
..(this becomes additive... and if the sandy patch is too long, I will end up goin' like a bat! in 5th gear)...
At that point,.. it's speed up or die... ;D
...if the wick runs out,... die!... ;D
Glad I'm not in Florida... :-?

Camping is great, I've always loved it.
Watch out for the snakes :

On the way to Texas this year I stopped  at the Texas welcome center to catch a few winks .    There wasn't any chance of rain , so I just put my 10x12 brown tarp to the bike on one end and staked the other to the ground and rolled my sleeping bag out under the cover.   Worked good !  ;)

Our Waynesville, NC. trip has morphed into a camping trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Seems like I will have some camping experience from a motorcycle when July arrives.

HAHA!! Going over 15mph in some of these areas will throw me off the bike. On the harder dirt roads 45+mph like Art said.."goin' like a bat" haha.

Waynesville, NC. trip sounds like FUN!
