Title: Suzuki Psychology Post by DesertRat on 05/24/16 at 08:50:20 see anything "suggestive" about their main page on their cruiser line-up? |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by Dave on 05/24/16 at 08:57:55 Seem like the Savage photograph is 20% smaller than the others! |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by DesertRat on 05/24/16 at 09:13:10 C50 BOSS and M109R are larger as well ... |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by justin_o_guy2 on 05/24/16 at 09:13:43 Kinda looks like I'm too little to even consider. I don't know why they even continue to make it. It's a rare mechanic who knows squat about it, low production numbers, aftermarket goodies are pretty sparse. I suspect they make bupkis selling one. |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by Dave on 05/24/16 at 09:28:26 Maybe the size of the photo is proportional to the weight....or price! |

The price goes up and up every year while the only thing that changes is the color. Someone posted an ad from around '86 a few weeks ago. I think the price was around $2699 if I remember right. It's around 7 grand these days. |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by Ruttly on 05/24/16 at 18:42:48 Being 20% smaller makes it more appealing to the target market !!! WOMEN , old short legged men , newbies to motorcycling. Am I in trouble ? |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by DesertRat on 05/24/16 at 19:20:06 well, they have dropped every single S-series except the S40, and the "new" styling of the C and M "lines" just don't do it for me ... |

Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by jcstokes on 05/25/16 at 03:37:10 Ruttly, you are pretty much correct. |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by DesertRat on 05/25/16 at 05:31:47 justin, 203% price increase in 30 years from an "unstable" dollar ??? Econ 101 says otherwise ... ;) |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by Serowbot on 05/25/16 at 06:53:25 The "S" now stands for "same"... Same as last year... ;D |

this the dollar is down, but not down that much, and 0 R&D goes into one, they just change paint jobs it's pretty simple, keep raising the price, if they keep paying it, mo money, if they say 'too much for a bike that small, they buy a bigger one, mo money |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by DesertRat on 05/25/16 at 07:18:19 exactly Art ... then add a little "psychological manipulation" marketing strategy and BOOM ... mo' money ... |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by Art Webb on 05/25/16 at 07:24:49 Either way, Suzuki wins unless you jump ship to what? they got the only thumpin cruiser, and there are no more standards except Honda's CB 1100, and it costs a mint) that leaves dual sports unless you're short and like reaching the ground ;D |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by DesertRat on 05/25/16 at 07:26:32 an interesting side note - as I hunt for used S40 LS650 Savage's there's an interesting price trend, they average around here at $2500 or less, these are very low mileage and late-models. The MARKET sets the price no matter what the stealership or factory or KBB or NADA place the value at. It's the new-rider who's uninitiated that gets suckered and saddled with the MSRP mark-up ... only to be had again when they trade-up and the MARKET only pays $2500 or less for that danged brand spanking shiny new low mileage bike. |

...ain't that always the way... :P I'm so grateful that people are willing to take that hit, in order to supply me with endless choices of cheap, low mileage, used bikes... ;D |
Title: Re: Suzuki Psychology Post by Dave on 05/25/16 at 07:53:10 It's kinda' like buying a computer....how many folks would ever dream of buying a used computer off Craigslist? Motorcycles are somewhat similar - some folks have no idea that they can buy a reliable, trustworthy motorcycle form a person. And the ones who have no mechanical ability want a dealership to help them when they need something worked on. |
