Title: Losing a sale over idle sound? Post by Cass on 05/05/16 at 20:28:21 I had a couple come to look at my 2001 last night. Texted the woman (who the bike would have been for) today to follow up. This was her reply: Sorry we are passing on the bike. Good luck selling it she is a beauty just sound like there's trouble in the idle Am I wrong, or do they not understand the thumper? |

Title: Re: Losing a sale over idle sound? Post by Cass on 05/06/16 at 05:25:58 I don't think it was the idle speed. I think it was just because it wasn't the throaty rumble of say a Harley that people are used to. |
Title: Re: Losing a sale over idle sound? Post by oldNslow on 05/06/16 at 07:01:23 Do you still have the stock muffler ? The stock exhaust is so quiet that the top end noise from a bike that is perfectly fine.overpowers the exhaust sound when you're standing next to the bike listening to it run. And these are pretty noisy engines anyway compared to a lot of bikes. |
Title: Re: Losing a sale over idle sound? Post by Serowbot on 05/06/16 at 07:31:19 Maybe she's a master mechanic, and hears a problem... or maybe she don't know her ass from her elbow. Either way,.. yer' one no closer to a yes... Every bike ain't for everybody... Sorry your selling her though. Best luck |
Title: Re: Losing a sale over idle sound? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 05/06/16 at 07:51:36 The stock muffler can sure whistle like a VW. The Dyna sounds good, looks great, is cheap and readily available, usually a simple swap. Depends on how stuck your current one is. Getting a right looking heat shield isn't really easy. |

Title: Re: Losing a sale over idle sound? Post by hotprops on 05/07/16 at 10:26:32 the bike in the vid has a strange sound for two reasons resonance from pointing rear into garage ,and i think a blockage in the muffler see discoloration at the near end |
