Hi new to form but not around bikes, I have a 86 LS 6:50. I was recently restoring the savage. When I was just about done I was putting gas in to the tank. Log story short the bike cought on fire and burnt the main harness out along with the CDI unit or igniter control module. So I went out and bought a whip for a 96 come to find out I can't use the 96 something about the pickup coil throwing off the timing my question is how can I use the 96. And finding a whip for a 86 is almost impossible along with the CD I any help would be appreciated

This might best be in the marketplace.

I have an '88 wiring harness and CDI that I'd trade for the '96.

Or what you need to change out is the rotor for a post '95.

not sure about the controls, they may be wired different.

'86 is an odd duck, they changed quite a bit in '87
