Title: Gas Cap Replacement Post by Woodstock ATC on 04/25/16 at 18:09:01 Here is my story (it's lengthy bear with me) My bike was stolen 2 years ago and I just recently got it back. When getting it road worthy again I went the bobber route because the person who stole it spray painted and generally trashed my bike. I have it up and running now but the last thing I need to replace is the gas cap. They replaced it with what appears to be a cap off a gas generator. I do not care about getting a locking gas cap again. What, if any, are good replacement caps? I've searched all over the internet and finding thread diameter is hard and I don't want to nickle and dime myself to death buying and trying new caps. Thanks!!! |
Title: Re: Gas Cap Replacement Post by Dave on 04/25/16 at 18:26:43 I don't know of any caps except the factory cap that fits. There are not any threads on the cap.....it has locking tabs that come out when the key is released. I think you need to get a factory cap from your Suzuki dealer or an online parts supplier. |

Title: Re: Gas Cap Replacement Post by Kris01 on 04/25/16 at 19:54:14 I think the factory cap is the only option. Could you not buff off the chrome and paint/powdercoat it black? |
Title: Re: Gas Cap Replacement Post by Woodstock ATC on 04/25/16 at 19:55:54 That is looking like my only option and the $60 price tag that comes with it |

Title: Re: Gas Cap Replacement Post by Rayven on 04/27/16 at 09:07:44 I have a stock gas cap you can have for waaay cheaper than a new one, not sure if your key would work with it though? It was spray painted flat black... |
Title: Re: Gas Cap Replacement Post by verslagen1 on 04/27/16 at 10:03:46 In the tech section there are several threads on re-keying. If you get a cap with the same keyway as your ig key, re-keying it to match is a simple process. |
