Title: Who likes hummers?

The little birds are everywhere, they buzz you while standing on the deck  ;D

Took a few snaps, not real vibrant as its rainy and gray, arg.

That's pretty cool.  You should tell us a little about the camera and how you set up the shot.  I would like to do something like that.

Sure.
I use a Fuji X-E1 mirrorless camera on a tripod with a Fuji 50-230 F4.5-6.7 glass.
I focus manually ( auto-focus turned off ) on a spot/perch, and use a remote trigger......
Wait, shoot  ;D

My settings on this were about 2000 ISO @ 250 sec.

Here are a few more.....

The sun peaked through for the first two....

awesome scale like feather pattern around the neck.
and delicate stitching around each eye.

did you know that feathers are a development of scales?

Great pics , me and the wife sit in the back yard and watch the little hummers all the time. Sometimes they buzz my head when mowing the grass cause I'm too close to the feeders. Very cool pics had to show the wife , Thanks for posting them!

One of them buzzed me just the other day.
I was watering the yard, and he came up quickly and then hovered about a foot from my face... he was looking right at me...
I couldn't figure what he was thinking, so I said,..."Hey, I'm a human"...
He seemed to think this over for few seconds, then buzzed away...

How do you convince them to land on on the perch?...

Just watch where they land, they will frequent the same spot, and wait....

Those are great photos.  Thanks for sharing!

Yep, just watch where they land... (http://www.armytimes.com/story/military/2016/04/21/army-launches-investigation-into-airborne-humvee-mishap-video/83333714/)

Those are great pictures. The county fair here has various categories of photography contests and I bet you could win one with those photos.  My father fed hummingbirds after he retired and had a lot of fun doing it.  Seemed like a lot of work.

Yup, we have the feeders out, but seems like the five or six we have EVERY year have not chosen to come back?
I have my garage door open all the time, and they usually first show up trying to get food off of my handle for manual release because it is a nice red, that's when we know they are here :)

But not this year.... we have had the feeders out for two weeks now, I took a gander at the hummingbird migration chart, and they should be here by now..... we are getting worried.

Here is my favorite picture... it too me like 3 hours to get it.... using a Fine Pix 7

That's not hard, I put a zip tie on the chain I hang our feeder from, they land on it all the time. Those fellows are not heavy. I even took the wire twisty tie from a bread bag and fastened it to the chain. Instant perches.

BAMM!! The little guy that comes into the garage to start the year showed up today!  LOL :)

Was making a video for the single tone piezo I ordered for the wife's bike and I heard the little bugger hovering. I have a screen on the garage this year, so he just latched onto that and sat for a few seconds.

I'll be looking for them on the feeders now... usually takes about a week before they all start showing up.

Beautiful pics ray, thanks for sharing. We are blessed to have them around here
as well. I have quite a few shrubs that bloom as well as flowers and they seem to prefer the nectar from them than the feeders themselves. They are so fun to warch.
How many different colored ones have you captured on film?

I'd be happy to see some hummers round here, but I'd be even happier with bats (big mosquito problem here)
