Title: A new 18" tire choice for RYCA riders
Post by Gary_in_NJ on 04/22/16 at 11:22:34

I saw this today on Cycleworld. Avon is now producing a new line of tires called the Street Runner. Within this series there is a 2.75-18 front tire and a 90/90-18 and 3.00-18 rear.

I'll let Dave chime in as to which one might work best on a cafe conversion (90/90?)

That is a great looking tire - but may be designed for bikes a bit smaller than the Savage.

The 2.75 -18 front tire fits a rim width of 1.40 - 1.85" (Savage Cafe' 2.15")
The 3.00-18 rear tire fits a rim width of 1.60 - 2.15" (Savage Cafe' 2.50")

The 90/90-18 front tire fits a rim width of 1.85-2.50....and that one would work fine, and I have run that size tire in a Bridgestone Battlax BT-45.

The Avon RoadRider comes in sizes that are good for the Savage Cafe' use.  My current favorite size is the 100/90-18 front and a 120/80-18 rear (I am currently using the Bridgestone Battlax BT-45).

how well will the StreetRunner tread part/spilt water vs. the RoadRider tread?
