Yep, I got one and I love it. I've had no issues with it. Works just like it is supposed to. I can;t remember the last time I had to thread the strap through.

Of course, that's just my $0.02 worth.

I have one but it occasionally jams when you click it in crooked.
Once this happens, ya look like a proper dork trying to get it fixed.  "Aw, look. Dude's stuck in his helmet.  Ain't he "special"!"  Not that I actually care what folks think; it's just a real pain trying to get it unjammed with the helmet on your head.  I've had to undo the straps that thread through the quick release buckle to get the helmet off, unjam it and put it all back together.

If they were made less flat (thicker material) I think the jamming wouldn't occur as much.  I got a new helmet recently and didn't transfer it over.  The other aspect you lose is any built-in retaining mechanism for the strap "tail".  My helmets both have a snap to retain the excess strap once it goes through the D rings.  With the quick release buckle, you can't use it and have to tuck it inside the strap under your jaw.  If ya don't it whips you at high speeds. :-/

I may try this one:  http://www.amazon.com/Black-Metal-Helmet-Quick-Release/dp/B00U2T894I?ie=UTF8&keywords=helmet%20quick%20release%20buckle&qid=1460044004&ref_=sr_1_3&sr=8-3

Thanks for the replies.  For the price, I think I will give it a shot.  I got a new helmet that does not have a well padded strap like my previous helmet and the 'tail' has no snap or other built-in place for the tail to go so I'll have to configure a spot for it, and this quick release will allow me to permanently tuck the tail away versus tucking it in EVERY time I put on the helmet.  Nice DOT approved helmet, they just didn't get too fancy with the strap.

A big concern for me would be.....that you can't lock your helmet to the bike with the clicky thingy on the strap.

Nolan comes with a quick release.  Love it.
To lock it, I string a steel cable through the face shield opening (modular helmet).

Dave,

I have one of the quick release gizmos in my Amazon shopping cart and was about to order before you brought up your concern about not being able to lock the helmet to the bike.

Since I am not sure exactly how it works I think I will wait until someone tries the gizmo and is certain that the helmet can or cannot be locked to the bike.

That would work.  One time I rode my Cafe' bike to a festival and it was about 90 degrees, and I didn't want to carry my new jacket with me all day - so I took my bicycle cable lock with me and ran the cable through the sleeve, and locked it to the bike.  (The jacket is now 4 years old.....and I don't lock it anymore!).

I don't leave my helmet with the bike so locking is not an issue for me.

But you can still lock the helmet to the bike with the original rings on the strap. Those don't come off.

I scratched one off a couple of months ago.
Not to worry, he's still way out in front.
Next time he earns one, I won't Add one. Tallies up the same.
