Title: Windows 10, can we opt out?
Post by gizzo on 04/06/16 at 20:27:47

Just had a popup on my laptop from windows, telling me to save all my work, my computer will beging updating to windows 10 in 1 hour. I postponed it for a while to get mpre imnformation. The last few months I've been regularly ignoring the update free messasges but it's come to the point where it seems it's being forced on me. I'm sick of all the versions of windows. This new one I have (8) has made my laptop seem like a giant mobile phone and I hate it. But next I'll have to unlearn all the rubbish I'm getting on top of. to learn where they've put stuff and how it works on the new version. I really CBF with that. I'm no Apple fanboy but my next machine's going to be a Mac.

CBF learning about that either. Unless someone can convince me it's really easy. There's not enough of me to go around.

Gizzo, OF will be interested in that message, as this is the first I've heard of MS "ORDERING" you to accept Win 10. I've been ignoring their pop ups for some time. I haven't had this sort of "Sturmbahn Feuhrer"  stuff yet, but then I live in Godzone.

It kind of seems like it. With this latest popup there was no x in the corner to close it, no close button or 'no thanks' sort of option. I ought to have screen shot it to show ya. I guess it'll be there when I start the machine when I get home. All I had the option to do was to postpone a few hours while I finished and saved any work I was doing.
