Title: Replace rear RIM with a front rim?
Post by DesertRat on 03/27/16 at 09:42:34

has anyone re-spoked a front rim for the rear? any write-ups, advice?

Im looking at Detuned's build and was wondering about this.

Detuned used a GS550 wheel - not sure what the width is.

The stock front wheel is a 2.15x19 - not sure what tires you can find in that size that is suitable for rear use....the Avon Roadrider might have a tire you can use.

The spoke nipple holes in the rim are angled to fit the small front hub - while the rear hub has large diameter flanges on the outside of a brake drum.  You would have to drill the holes at weird angles and the nipple would not sit flat in the rim....and you would have to get custom spokes made for the 19" rim.
