Title: Harley Dyna Baffle Knock out?
Post by bobthekerr on 03/26/16 at 20:37:25

95 savage, rejetted, white spacer mod, brass idle screw mod, all done. Had the Jardine rumbler slash-cut muffler since purchased, but the baffle blew out turning it into a serious megaphone.

Anyways....Went onto ebay and purchased 2 Harley Dyna mufflers, part #65747-94. After getting everything fitting right and tight... I HATE THE SOUND!!!

I guess the Jardine was better than I thought. I want loud, but not megaphone loud.

Does anyone have a link to a tut, or a video to show how to remove the baffle from this model? I have an extra so if it doesn't work out I can always swap 'em out.

Any help is greatly appreciated! ;D ;D ;D

You can get a long drill (aircraft drill), and drill a hole in the plate in the center of the tube...about half way down the muffler.  Start with a hole about 1/4" in diameter, and work your way up in size until you get the sound you want.  If you don't have access to a long drill....there are drill extensions that can be used.

As a last resort you can stick in a steel bar and drive the plate out - but it makes the muffler pretty much a drag pipe, and the jetting can be difficult and it is not the best setup to get a smooth running bike.

I had a 1/2 inch hole in mine. louder than the stock dyna, but nowhere near as obnoxious as the Emgo shorty megaphone that Ryca uses.

Maybe your interested in buying a used Mac muffler with baffle, sound like the jardine you had and baffle can't blow out.

I have a 3/8" drill bit that size. Think that is good?

I used the 3/8' drill bit and found the center and punched it out. Sounds much better, not exactly what I wanted, but I'm not complaining I got 2 of these Dyna mufflers for a song.

Thanks Dave for the advice, worked out great! ;D ;D ;D
