Title: Who's fat, who's not
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/26/16 at 18:27:14

I thought this was funny and thought provoking.
If it's a TT topic, then, someone can move it.

Except from the article.
I've added my remarks between the listings.

To get a better picture of where, precisely, the obesity epidemic is most out of control, WalletHub recently compiled a list of America’s fattest major cities. They looked beyond just the number of overweight and obese adults, teens and kids, and made their assessments also taking into consideration the prevalence of weight-related health problems and healthy environment factors—meaning access to healthy food and how active people’s lifestyles are. The results offer a look at the country’s 10 fattest metro areas, all of which are located in the South.

Fattest Metro Areas

What's to say about why people are fat? I never understood it.
When I was getting in bad health, initially, I got a bit heavy. I hit 180, I'm down to about 140, flabby, out of shape, and exercising, even gently, makes me sore for days, but, I keep trying.. I do want to be able to ride a bicycle again.. I mean, fast, and for ten miles or more.. we'll see....

Memphis, TN
Shreveport, LA
Indianapolis, IN
Jackson, MS
New Orleans, LA
Chattanooga, TN
Mobile, AL
San Antonio, TX
Greenville, SC
Little Rock, AR
In case you're wondering, here's where the slimmest Americans live.

Thinnest Metro Areas

92. Denver, CO

96. Sacramento, CA

I have no idea

97. Las Vegas, NV

Eat? With WHAT? I lost it on the blackjack table.

I'm in the Memphis area. Southern cooking is not known as diet food. Pass the BBQ please!  ;D

In the south, if it ain't fried, it ain't food!

And I don't classify Indiana as south.... Tennessee is barely south :) and I still say "up there" when I talk about it.

And me.... well, past four years ain't been kind.... got kinda "down in the mouth" after my illness and when I messed up my back, it continued to be so.
I'm working at being healthier... get fixed first, then climb the mountain!
Yup, i'm 180lbs @ 5' 10" and folks say "that ain't bad" and the spine doctor even commented on how he only had to use a 3" needle to access my disc's when injecting and not the 5" ones he has to use on "heavier folks", so I guess he was calling me "normal".
Even though I have the Dunlop disease, (belly dun loped over the belt) I can work slow and steady, just can't do it for long, and NEVER in quick bursts.
While out playing pool with a bud, we were discussing young drunk bucks and how we would handle them if trouble happened. I told him, well I "used" to stand my ground and think about taking them down without hurting them, now days... I think hitting them with a chair or a table would help me better and I would probably have to see a doc after lifting it! LOL...
Being healthy is a good thing and a good goal, it doesn't matter how "heavy" you are, its how your body handles moving the mass. ;) :)

My mother was English.  At 6 years of age I learned how to cook as self defense.  Pappy cooked also, taught me.  Good cooking takes time.  Now that I am retired, I have the time to cook.  So I do:  http://www.andruschak.net/cooking/index.html

Problem is, I like my cooking.

Naaah,  just don't piss people off. Never know what some people are capable of. I THINK I know what I'm capable of. And I know that whatever it is, it ain't for long, so, if it's on, I'm all in, till I'm tuckered out. I don't start trouble. I feel completely free to do whatever to end it. If I can talk someone down, I will, but I Can't run...
I'm too old to be getting hurt,,

Jog... I have almost perfected the talk them down, but my last and final words when I realize its going bad are: "do you work? can you go for a month or two without working? I can, I'm retired"

The first question usually throws them off a little, the second one might make them think you might be able to hurt them and the money they might loose, the third one lets them know, you know you might get hurt, and you have the time to heal, so you won't hold back.

We are NOT as young as we used to be, I know my limits now, and am trying to make them limits higher health wise :)

So anything you can do to make yourself healthier and live longer to ride more, is a good thing :)

You betchya,,, and, Not getting punched in the face is on that list of things.
I'm cutting down on smoking, and drinking and I'm determined to wean off the pain meds. Soon as I get the pickup running, I'll haul the bicycle to the park. I just can't handle the hills out here. Yet,,, but, I will.
